PlanetArt parent Claranova, a leading global technology company, announces the appointment of Eric Gareau as CEO, effective immediately. Gareau succeeds Pierre Cesarini, who is leaving the company.
Gareau has been Chief Executive Officer of Avanquest, Claranova’s software publishing and distribution division, since 2021. He successfully led Avanquest’s transition to a subscription sales business model, making the company the main contributor to Claranova’s operating income, and has demonstrated real leadership qualities, the company said. He joined Claranova in 2018 upon the acquisition of Lulu Software (PDF), of which he was CEO since its creation in 2009. He brings more than 25 years of experience in leadership roles in sales, software and consumer goods marketing. Gareau will also remain Managing Director of Avanquest and will move with his family to Paris later this year.
“We are delighted to welcome Eric Gareau as Chief Executive Officer, said Marc Goldberg, Chairman of the Board of Directors, who assumed the post earlier this month. “It’s a new beginning for Claranova. Over the past few months, we have acted on several fronts to address concerns shared by our shareholders. The company has reorganized its governance, appointing five new directors with strong technology experience to its six-member Board of Directors. Claranova also strengthened its capital structure with the recent refinancing, pushing back debt payments that were due to come due in the coming weeks. With the appointment of Eric Gareau, we are also bringing new life to our management team; he has extensive knowledge of the group and has demonstrated his ability to manage operations profitably. Claranova turns the page and can now fully concentrate on improving its performance, supported by a strategic review mandated by the Board of Directors and an uncompromising strategic plan.”
